Claude Monet - Artis Orbis

Born in 1840, Claude Monet was one of the founders of the Impressionist movement. He began painting waterlilies in 1899 at his home in Giverny where he wanted to document the French countryside. This led him to paint the same scene over and over again in order to capture the changing light and the different seasons. To make his own water garden perfect, Monet collected exotic plants from all over the world and every summer, the garden at Giverny is open to the public.
