British royal commemoratives have been available since the fifteenth century and it was during the reign of Queen Victoria that royal commemoratives became really popular. Until Diana, Princess of Wales became the most photographed and famous person in history, it was a Queen Victoria royal commemorative piece that was most sought after, particularly if the royal commemorative was a limited edition or signed.
Prior to the Coronation of King Edward VII, the production of royal commemoratives was controlled by the Monarchy or by the office of Lord Chamberlain. Most British manufacturers now produce collectables with a royal theme and we are currently offering pieces from Aynsley, Royal Worcester, Spode and of course The Royal Collection.
Royal commemoratives of today are recording the history of tomorrow. With the Royal Engagement of HRH Prince William to Miss Catherine (Kate) Middleton last year, the Royal Wedding in 2011 and the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen in 2012, there will be many pieces to record these events.
